There's been so much interest recently in the song “Pick Poor Robin Clean”, which appeared in the film SINNERS, that I’ve decided to do an online guitar workshop about it this month!
The song was recorded by Geeshie Wiley in 1931, and I learned it from my dad when I was growing up. Interest in this old song has exploded recently – even my streaming numbers went up (my typical top 3 songs were eclipsed by several versions of the song I recorded), and a couple YouTube videos I published of the song continue to get tons of hilarious comments (hint: in the movie, the song is sung by vampires).
Several people had asked me about tablature, so I thought it would be fun to do an hour-long online guitar workshop, that you can attend from anywhere! I‘ll teach you how to play the song, and you’ll get a copy of the tablature. You’ll also get access to the replay! DRUM ROLL… Our new album is officially going to be titled Let The Mermaids Flirt With Me: A Tribute To Mississippi John Hurt, and I’m excited to report that it’s finished being mastered! It sounds GREAT – some of the best sounds we’ve gotten yet – and we’re working on setting a release date with our label VizzTone.
